Strategic Narratives

In this two day course participants experience the technique of narratives as an effective and efficient way to communicate. Participants learn how to craft and tell stories, experience the power of narrative messages, explore the technical elements of narrative structure and see first-hand how Narrative Mapping can help communicate a strategic message.

Day One focuses on Stories—what makes a good story, what they feel and sound like, how to be an effective and efficient communicator and active listener, what happens when meaning gets lost in translation and how to map the basics of a narrative (i.e., the technique of Narrative Mapping).

Day Two focuses on Strategic Narratives – how to use Narrative Mapping, tips to identify and isolate important narrative elements, and how to simplify complex strategies through narrative structures that are easy to follow, repeat and share. The day is filled with several practical exercises so participants have a working knowledge and conscious command of narratives when conducting important conversations and presentations.

On each day we’ll create, tell and listen to stories about ourselves and about our world—about our own experiences and relevant field scenarios…we’ll move from the personal to the organizational level—from recalling key messages to presenting them in a narrative that flows—gaining deeper insights and confidence in how narratives are a more effective technique to make a memorable impact.

The exercise will be practical, experiential and rewarding. Each participant will engage in dynamic conversations and purposeful exercises. When participants finish, they will gain initial certification in this approach.
