About Us

The Sheffield Institute was founded by Joseph McCormack, a marketing executive and agency veteran, to help professionals and students gain access to valuable insights to the dramatic changes in the world of communications, media and technology. The Institute exists to provide leadership and professional development to prepare them to communicate effectively and efficiently in the information economy.

As part of the Sheffield Company, the Institute offers seminars and courses to a variety of organizations ranging from corporations and government agencies to academic institutions and non-profit organizations. The Institute is staffed by seasoned professionals (mentors) that guide deeper professional discovery for its participants.

Every year, a handful of students are selected as Sheffield Scholars to gain valuable access to Sheffield’s professional network and obtain valuable work experience in three- to six-month internships and apprenticeships. To date, there have been scholars from universities such as Notre Dame, Northwestern, Illinois, Michigan State and Indiana.

Periodically, the Institute offers seminars in a variety of disciplines such as strategic communications, leadership, social media and advanced communication skills.
